Big Glass at Big Five

At the biggest construction event in the Middle East, sedak (Germany) shows what is possible with glass in the 21st century. The Big 5 takes place from 26th to 29th November 2017 at Dubai World Trade Center. With two exhibits, sedak presents its new IGU product line “sedak isomax” with a Ug-value up to 0.23 W/m²K, and an example of an all-glass-façade construction at the German Pavilion (booth SS3 D67).

Transparency unlimited

From mid-2018, the German glass manufacturer sedak (Gersthofen, Germany) will fabricate glass up to 3.51 m x 20 m, CEO Bernhard Veh has announced. With the new record dimensions, sedak further expands its leading position as a specialist for exceptionally large glass.

The Big Essentials of Tempering Glass

When tempering glass areas up to 50 square meters, sedak’s new tempering furnace comes into play. It processes glass with the maximum dimensions of 3.2 m x 16.5 m into fully tempered or heat-strengthened glass. With this second furnace, the specialist for oversize glass not only doubles its tempering capacities but also enlarges its entire production to a new maximum length of 16.5 m.

The Merging of Glass and Wood

Nothing less than the perfect symbiosis of glass and wood – that is what the architects of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) wanted for a new 24-level office building in Salt Lake City, USA.

Impressive Façade: Functional Glass for Creative Minds

Functionality and esthetics of oversize glass – that is what the two product lines sedak isodecor and sedak secudecor unite. The insulating and safety glass units are printed with ceramic inks and fulfill decorative and functional requirements (sight protection/ solar protection) up to 3.2m x 16.5m.

Leuphana: Lüneburg’s Libeskind flagship

Many spectacular architecture projects can only be realized with exceptionally innovative solutions – as for Lüneburg’s Central Building of the Leuphana University from star architect Daniel Libeskind. The futuristic design, with its many asymmetrical shapes, required a solar control solution that would perfectly enhance the overall artistic impression.

CarTeck Frame 2.0: Easy and quick installation

Using less individual parts and with the help of well-engineered connections Teckentrup (Verl) simplifies the installation for its garage doors. Thus the „CarTeck Frame 2.0“ is very installation-friendly, requires low-maintenance and is installed faster. At the same time it offers many individual solutions. „Furthermore this model is visually extremely appealing”, says Ekkehard Grohs -the head of the development/construction department who drove the development of the new frame further- happily.

13m High Glass Under Protection

The renovation of the UNO building „United Nations Conference on Trade and Development“ in Geneva shows how today’s production technology makes monumental protection possible also for buildings with glass façades. The 13m high insulating glass units, which in 1971 had been fabricated manually and during an effortful process, had now to be replaced. sedak delivered tempered double IGUs produced fully automatically. The dimensions are still impressive.

sedak isomax: a Highlight of GPD

The Glass Performance Days in Tampere (Finland, 28th – 30th June) provide not only exclusive speeches but also a chosen circle of exhibitors of the industry. sedak (Gersthofen) uses the top-class event to present its new insulating glass product line “sedak isomax” on an international stage. With a Ug-value up to 0.23 W/m²K, thermal insulation can now be realized using only glass. At booth 93, the German specialist for oversize formats also offers an insight into innovative glass finishing capabilities and processing quality.

Slim board, sustainable effect

With the right external wall insulation system, you can improve a facade’s energy credentials even when there is very little room in the case of a refurbishment, or if you are aiming to maximise the living space in a new build. With its extremely slim yet efficient insulation board, StoTherm PIR is ideal for these scenarios.
