The Whole World in one Window

To encourage interaction and collaboration among students was the goal when the Blavatnik School of Government (University of Oxford, England) decided to make one building out of three. The architectural design by Herzog & de Meuron reflects the open communication concept.

sedak sponsors racing team

An unusual use of sedak’s autoclave: Instead of oversize glass laminates, now a racing car chassis hardened in the pressure chamber. sedak, thus, sponsors the up-and-coming racing team “Starkstrom Augsburg”. 2016 will be the fifth time, the crew takes part in the “Formula Student Germany” competition.

sedak – now on Facebook and Twitter

With the social media channels @sedak_de and @sedak_int, sedak now tweets for its German and international followers. The glass manufacturer from Gersthofen, Bavaria, is also present on Facebook at the address facebook.com/sedak.leading.glass.

Glass in a key position

Brookfield Place just designed by César Pelli (Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects) is located downtown Manhattan and west of the Freedom Tower. The shopping mall has quickly established itself as a linch-pin for fashion, culture, and cuisine. The complex stands out for its high transparency. For the two main entrances at the north and south side, all-glass façades have been designed. The highlight: even the supporting construction is made of glass.

Leading glass

Founded in 2007, sedak, the glass fabricator in Gersthofen, Germany, is the world’s leading manufacturer of oversize insulating and safety glass. sedak supplies glass units in dimensions up to 3.2m x 16m: processed, tempered, laminated, printed, coated and cold bent.

Not only can sedak produce oversize glass units; sedak also moves mountains. For the HT Group, a supplier of room solutions in the sector of medical engineering, the fabricator has produced a 9m x 3m digital printed glass pane.

Glass glacier despite climate change

A glacier in the middle of a city? That’s something you can only find in Sweden – in Gothenburg. Here, in 2014, “Glasiären”, a six-storey, blue-shimmering office building was built in the trendy quarter of Kvilbäcka/Kvillebäcken. So that this “glacier” – which is exactly what Glasiären means – does not get too warm, the owners decided to use dimmable solar control glass from EControl-Glas (Plauen, Germany).

Controlling doors safely and reliably

They are hardly ever seen, but are used almost every day: garage door drives. They make door control comfortable and they increase break-in protection. Now Teckentrup is introducing a further developed generation to the market. The drives 12.2, 20.2 and 40.2 use “Rolling Codes” so that the radio signal cannot be seized by thieves. Performance features have also been improved and the programming simplified.
